Lung Cancer Screening
Early detection and diagnosis of a pulmonary nodule, which may be cancerous, provides the best chance for a cure. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer related death in the United States, with more than 150,000 Americans dying from this disease each year. There is now clear evidence that screening people at high risk for lung cancer with a low-dose CT scan leads to 20% fewer deaths from this disease. At PinnacleHealth, we offer a low-dose screening CT scan to identify nodules or other findings suggestive of lung cancer which can then be managed in our Pulmonary Nodule Clinic.
The American Cancer Society and other leading organizations recommend that a pulmonary nodule found on screening be managed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians that specializes in the evaluation and treatment of pulmonary nodules and lung cancer. PinnacleHealth offers the only multidisciplinary Pulmonary Nodule Clinic in the Central Pennsylvania region and can provide seemless care from a positive lung cancer screening result to a comprehensive evaluation in our clinic.
