2. Where exactly is the new Cancer Center?

The PinnacleHealth Cancer Center is located in the Medical Sciences Pavilion, which is an addition to Community General Hospital.The Medical Sciences Pavilion houses the Cancer Center program and all imaging previously located in the Bloom Outpatient Center.

To make the center as patient friendly and convenient as possible, PinnacleHealth incorporated many vital oncology services across many disciplines into the new Cancer Center including:
  • Radiation oncology including Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT); Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) and HDR
  • Infusion services including chemotherapy and blood transfusions Imaging, including PET CT scans, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, Digital mammography and Breast MRI

5. Where do patients go for infusions/radiation/breast care?

The goal of the PinnacleHealth Cancer Center is to provide comprehensive services in one centralized and convenient location. The Medical Outpatient Unit (MOU) previously at Harrisburg Hospital has been relocated to the Cancer Center. Infusion availability has increased as our capacity increased from six to 12 chairs in the new unit. All radiation oncology services have been relocated from Polyclinic Hospital to the new Cancer Center at Community Campus. The PinnacleHealth Breast Care Center is also now housed within the Medical Sciences Pavilion providing the most convenient care available for women. Located on the second floor, the PinnacleHealth Breast Care Center is in the same area as women's imaging for the comfort and convenience of patients.

6. Are there physicians on-site?

Dr. Brij Sood, a board certified radiation oncologist and director of the PinnacleHealth Cancer Center, and Dr. Warren Sewall, radiation oncologist, are on-site at the new Center.  Nationally accredited breast surgeons Dr. Lisa Torp and Dr. Brynn Wolff are on site as well.  There is also office space available for other physicians who may see the benefit in being able to see their patients and utilize the centralized imaging, lab, support and other oncology services available within the Cancer Center.

7. What services are available for women?

The PinnacleHealth Breast Care Center, which recently earned NAPBC accreditation, is located within the Medical Sciences Pavilion providing the most comprehensive and convenient care for women. Grouped together, the advanced women's imaging services, including digital mammography, dexa and breast MRI, are conveniently located near the PinnacleHealth Breast Care Center for ease of access and efficient patient flow from imaging to physician consultation.
